Principal's Message

I would like to welcome you to the 2025-26 school year.   My name is Dr. Pauline Garcia.   There have been some changes that I would like to update you on for the upcoming school year.  I am extremely humbled to serve as the Director of Adult Education.  I also oversee the Perris Continuation High School (PLHS).  Both schools are located at the Alternative Education Center at 418 W. Ellis Avenue in Perris, California.

I have worked in the Perris Union High School District for 27 years.  I served as a high school counselor for Perris High School and Perris Lake High School.  I served as a district coordinator for the Student Assistance Program.  I served as an Assistant Principal for Perris High School, Paloma Valley High School and Perris Lake High School.  In addition, I served as the Principal for The Academy Community Day School (ACA), ScholarPlus Online Learning Academy (SOLA), Perris Lake High School (PLHS) and Perris Community Adult School (PCAS).  In addition, I served as Director of Pupil Services.  I am excited to meet you and honored to work with all of you during the upcoming school year.

In addition, I would like to introduce PLHS’s new Administrator Designee, Dr. Heather Avila.  Dr. Avila has worked in the field of education for 27 years.  She served as an English teacher at Perris High School and Pinacate Middle School.  She also served as Assistant Principal at Paloma Valley High School.  She is also an alumni from Perris High School, go Panthers!  We are excited to have her on the team!

I also want to welcome Dr. Delfina Gomez, school counselor.  Dr. Gomez has 25 years of experience in school counseling.  She recently served in the role of Wellness Counselor at Liberty High School.  We are excited to have her join our team as well!

As you all know, PLHS is an alternative educational opportunity to assist students behind in credits.  Our mission is to create high quality relevant learning opportunities for all in a safe and caring environment. We will develop a high quality, caring staff who will be dedicated to learning, and connect students to their education and potential goals. We will care for all students while developing a growth mindset through collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking.

With gratitude,
Pauline S. Garcia
